Premier League and Max Morris 7's round-up. Wednesday night's Social bowls success with 10 rinks playing.
All the inter club competitions have now finished for the Club. Premier League was another great success. The top team came runners up to Burleigh Heads after going undefeated until the grand final. The A's have won the competition now for two years in a row - and the third time in 5 years, which shows the great depth that we have in the club with so many top quality players.
Premier 7s have finished up with three of the four teams making the playoffs. Unfortunately Divisions 3 & 4 went down in the quarter finals and Division 2 went down in the semi finals. These results on top of the Max Morris 7s mean that the Club made eight out of ten finals, which was a great follow up to the magnificent Pennant season we had. The next interclub competition is Pennant which starts in July. A sheet for players to sign-up will go up this week (w/c 10/04).
Social Bowls is still going very well with our Tuesdays and Thursdays getting great numbers. We really appreciate everyone who has been playing Wednesday nights. It is a great atmosphere and gives our workers a chance to play during the week - we had 10 rinks this past Wednesday night. Saturday morning is back now that the 7s is finished and we had 8 rinks on Saturday which was fantastic.
A challenge will be getting our Club Championships done before the Australian Open. We trust we will be able to get it done and get some good crowds watching some fantastic games.
We have the busiest calendar ever this year and it will be very busy starting April 23rd with the Australian Champion of Champion Singles. Over the next two month period we will have 43 days of major bowls competition at the Club (full details).
All four greens are running very well and Les is happy with how they have come out of the very heavy rain we have experienced.
