Bulls march on with emerging Jackaroo, Nick Cahill joining the team! 🙌 - plus a quick round-up of current comps.
The Max Morris 7’s competition came to an end with Broadbeach making the playoffs in three out of the four divisions. Congratulations to the Division 1 team who went down on the last bowl in the grand final against Tugun. Division 2 & 3 went down in the quarter finals and semi finals respectively.
Premier League is rolling along very well. The top team is 11 - 0 and guaranteed top spot after the regular season with two games to spare. The A’s are currently in second place going into the last weekend and the goal is a top three finish to get a second chance in the finals which will be held on 19 - 20 March at Helensvale Bowls Club.
The Premier 7’s teams are also travelling very well in the competition. Halfway through all four have a good chance of making the finals.
With the heavy playing schedule for the above competitions the Club Championships have been affected; members are making a great effort to get the games done and it will have to be a team effort to get the championships in before the Champion of Champions in April.
We have had to cancel a few social days due to the wet weather but the numbers are still high for this time of the year. It is great to see new bowlers making the jump from Neville’s coaching on Wednesday mornings to getting into games, which is helping out all members of the club.
The greens got a battering with rain but thank you to the greenkeepers and all their hard work in recovering the greens quickly and all are now running very well. With Green 4 back again so all four greens are now in use.
Thank you to the Club for its support in going down to the BPL. It is good exposure for the Club and hopefully in the future the Bulls can acquire a franchise for the tournament.
The Broadbeach-5-a-Side is almost full. Initial invitees have until the 17 March. We have added four teams and will include a team from Hong Kong. Only four clubs have declined the invitation - Helensvale, Mount Lewis, Taren Point and Deer Park.
The Blue Diamond Pairs invites are going out this week and we hope to have a full field confirmed in a month's time.
The club will also run a 56 team fours tournament between the Blue Diamond and Australian Open. This will attract 224 players to the Club for three days and should be great for the Club's profile as top playing venue.
I would like to welcome Nick Cahill to the club. Nick is an emerging Jackaroo and will be playing for Broadbeach full time after his premier league commitments with Tweed Heads are fulfilled.
